Canberra ACT (PRWeb) December 15 2006 -- Jason Bresnehan has been appointed CEO of Australian enterprise search engine company Funnelback (www.funnelback.com). Seasoned in start ups, Jason says he is thrilled to be heading up an Australian company in such an exciting global space.
Born and bred in Tasmania, the new Chief is making the move to Funnelback's headquarters in Canberra for his new role.
As he takes responsibility for Funnelback's international technology commercialisation, Jason will be able to call on a wealth of expertise which he began accumulating when, soon after completing a degree in Business, he co-founded Noble House Tasmania, a boutique corporate advisory firm and investment bank.
In 1997 Jason was appointed Director of Investments with Melbourne based venture capital company, Momentum Ventures Ltd, where he performed the full cycle of venture capital investing and later became the CEO for one of Momentum's investees, Biovend.
Jason will begin the company's international expansion initiative early next year with plans for Asia, Europe and the US. "Funnelback is already dominating the enterprise search market in Australia and I think this success can be attributed to the fact that we invest over one third of our revenue back into R&D and deliver very good products to our customers " he explained "and we want to leverage this in international markets."
Founded in 1998 by information retrieval expert Dr David Hawking, the Funnelback search engine has a world class result ranking algorithm at its core, which can be tuned to the specific information retrieval needs of its clients. Funnelback's client list boasts blue chip companies, one third of all Australian Universities and the Australian Government.

Trends in the Australian Mortgage Industry
The final few months of the year 2006 proved very unpredictable and harsh for the Australian mortgage industry. This was because the lending values went in the upward direction in the home mortgage sector and the rate of house affordability went down for the first time in the last ten years. Sales of houses gained speed in every suburb and the city of Sydney recorded an unbelievable increase of 30 percent over the total sales of the earlier part of the year. Seeing this increase at the end of the year, the HIA [Housing Industry Association] has predicted that the coming year is going to be a record year for the home mortgage industry in Australia.
