First Australian Web Site to Auction ".au" Domain Names

Sydney, Australia (PRWEB) June 15, 2008 -- The launch on 1st June 2008 of the domain name auction Web site Domainshed (www.domainshed.com.au) provides an online marketplace for buyers and sellers of .au domain names.

The creators of Domain Shed have been active in the online industry for more than 10 years. When designing the site, the team was aware of the immediate need for such an online venue. Users are interested in watching bidding trends and how much is being offered for each domain name.

The CEO of Domain Shed, Goran Simunovic, believes the Domain Shed Web site will allow anyone to have insight into the current .au domain name marketplace. "As well as providing a tool for the sale of .au names, the Web site also works to enable potential buyers and sellers to get the gist of movements within the marketplace," Simunovic says.

Other big names in the industry tend to agree as to the likelihood of an upcoming boom in .au domain names. Greg Platt, Chief Financial Officer for Gold Coast-based company, Dark Blue Sea, believes that the auDA rule change could see prices for .au domain names skyrocket. Chris Disspain, head of auDA, says, "I expect we will see an active market... With more than a million .au names registered, it is safe to assume that some, at least, will have a significant market value."

Currently www.domainshed.com.au offers two ways in which a domain name auction can be listed on the Web site. The first is a free listing with a commission paid when the domain name is sold. The second involves a nominal set fee per listing (no commission). All domain names are categorised into relevant sections, including Finance, Travel, Business, Sport, etc. Visitors to the site are able to browse each listing, however to list or bid on a name, users must register first. The Web site places emphasis on security by verifying all details of registrants.

Domain Shed is currently engaging in active partnerships with other companies involved with the .au domain names market.

The Domain Shed Web site may prove to be an invaluable tool for those in the .au marketplace. It will also be an interesting venue for those simply curious as to whether the anticipated boom eventuates. For additional information on the Domain Shed Web site, contact Goran Simunovic, or visit Domainshed (http://www.domainshed.com.au).
